Project Details:
Most of my published work is academic and also very critical of US policies. Lately, I have been thinking of writing a memoir: mostly about my life in the United States.
I came here in 1996 after resigning my commission in the Pakistan Army. My life here was enabled and enriched by so many of my American friends whose stories are never heard in my native country, Pakistan. I want to write this memoir to thank these friends, but also to present this best of America to the people of my own culture and the larger Islamic world. This story is important because it represents the best of America in opposition to the usual representations of the ugly American.
My goal is to publish the memoir with a reputable publisher for marketing all over the United States and the rest of the world.
The funds raised would go toward traveling to interview people I am planning to write about, to hire editorial help for the manuscript, and to produce illustrations and pictures to be included in the book.
